"For people on the go, Virginia Tech Mobile is a great way to keep up with what's happening at the university,'' said Larry Hincker, associate vice president of university relations. “Mobile devices have become a primary means of communication for many people, so providing news and information in a mobile format is important to our multimedia mission."

Virginia Tech Mobile is the latest vehicle one can use to receive the latest news and information on innovative research by Virginia Tech faculty; significant achievements by members of the university community; or projects and programs that impact the state, the nation, or the world. Users will also receive important campus notices, emergency or weather related announcements, current weather conditions in Blacksburg, and a comprehensive listing of campus events.

The new mobile service now joins a growing family of Virginia Tech News products—including the university homepage (www.vt.edu) and Virginia Tech News website (www.vtnews.vt.edu), the Virginia Tech News daily e-mail (sign up at www.vtnews.vt.edu/email.php), Virginia Tech Podcasts (www.podcasts.vt.edu), RSS feeds (www.vtnews.vt.edu/rss.php), and the Virginia Tech Weather Line (recorded messages available at 540-231-6668).
