Alcohol abuse prevention is a hot topic on college campuses across the nation and Virginia Tech's Division of Student Affairs and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Task Force is committed to addressing the issue as it relates to Virginia Tech campus community.

Tom Casady, police chief in Lincoln, Neb. will visit campus Monday, Dec. 10, at 9 a.m. in the Old Dominion Ballroom, Squires Student Center, to present his strategies addressing alcohol abuse. His presentation topic will focus on a collaborative alcohol abuse model that works; a town and gown approach.

This presentation is free and open to the public.

Casady has served as the police chief in Lincoln since 1994. He also the co-chair of “NU” Directions, a University of Nebraska campus coalition to reduce high risk drinking among college students.

He received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Nebraska - Omaha, and his master’s degree in political science from the University Nebraska -Lincoln. Casady is active in numerous organizations, and is especially involved with matters related to alcohol abuse, domestic violence, and child abuse.
