The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets will conduct a Pylon Dedication Ceremony at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2008, at the War Memorial on Virginia Tech's Blacksburg campus.

The engravings of two additional veterans’ names on the Ut Prosim Pylon will be dedicated. The families of both men will be guests and all university employees, alumni, and friends are encouraged and welcome to attend.

Navy Lieutenant Nick Brantley, Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets class of 2001, was killed on Sept. 25, 2005, when his helicopter went down in the Atlantic during night operations. He is the third member of the corps of cadets’ class of 2001 to be engraved on the memorial.

Army Staff Sergeant Jesse Clowers, Virginia Tech class of 2003, was killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on Aug. 12, 2007, in Afghanistan. He is the seventh name to be added to the memorial from the current conflict.

The Pylons are a representation of Virginia Tech’s values. The values engraved on the eight pylons are, (from left to right): Brotherhood, Honor, Leadership, Sacrifice, Service, Loyalty, Duty, and Ut Prosim.
