Virginia Tech Union hosts Winterfest 2011

Virginia Tech Union will host its annual Winterfest celebration on Saturday, Feb. 26 from noon until 4 p.m. in Squires Student Center at Virginia Tech.

Winterfest is an indoor carnival that includes inflatable games, a balloon artist, performances, activity booths by student organizations as well as face painting and more. The event is free and open to the public.

Winterfest kicked off in 1992 and has been a staple winter activity for both the campus and local community ever since. Each year, thousands of attendees take part in the fun and enjoy a break from bleak, wintry weekends. Winterfest offers a variety of activities and booths for all ages.

For the first time, Winterfest will be taking place on the same day that ESPN’s College Game Day comes to Blacksburg. Hokie fans can pack Cassell Coliseum early Saturday morning when the doors open at 8:30 a.m. and ESPN goes live at 10 a.m. After the show, head over to Squires for Winterfest. The afternoon festival will be a great way to gear up for the men’s basketball game that night when the Hokies take on the Duke Blue Devils. Winterfest is a chance to enjoy the winter day and share Hokie spirit.
