Venture capitalist Paul Singh to address 2015 National Capital Region graduates
Venture capitalist Paul Singh, managing director and general partner at 1776, a Washington D.C.-based global business incubator and seed fund, will deliver the keynote address at the Virginia Tech National Capital Region Commencement ceremony at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at the George Mason University Center for the Arts in Fairfax, Virginia.
Approximately 400 National Capital Region students are expected to complete their degree requirements this spring.
Prior to 1776, Singh was the founder of Disruption Corp. and general partner of Disruption's post-seed venture capital arm, Crystal Tech Fund. 1776 recently purchased Disruption.
Previously, Singh was a partner at 500 Startups, an accelerator and venture firm headquartered in Silicon Valley, California, that has invested in nearly 1,000 companies across more than 40 countries.
Singh has also founded a few of his own start-up companies and worked at PBworks, AOL Inc., and Symantec Corp.
Singh graduated from high school in Arlington, Virginia, and holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from George Mason University.
