(updated at 5 p.m.): The Squires Food Court will remain closed this evening. Both Au Bon Pain and Burger ’37 will open at their regular time on Wednesday if there are no additional flooding concerns.

(updated at 3:30 p.m.): Virginia Tech has reopened Duck Pond Drive. Motorists are urged to exercise caution when driving on this road.

(updated at 12:45 p.m.): Due to current weather and flooding issues, Dining Services is closing the Squires Food Court until further notice. This impacts food services at Au Bon Pain and Burger ’37 as of 12:30 p.m. today. 

(posted 8:30 a.m.) The Virginia Tech Police Department has closed several roads on campus due to flooding. 

Smithfield Road is closed from the Horse Center to Plantation Road. Duck Pond Drive is closed from Oak Lane to Grove Road.  Oak Lane and Grove Road remain open to traffic. The Duck Pond has come up over the road at the bridge on Duck Pond Drive.

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a flood warning for Montgomery County and Virginia Tech until 1:30 p.m. today. A flash flood watch for this area is in effect until tomorrow morning.

Police remind motorists to take extra precautions when driving in rainy conditions. Slow down and do not drive through standing water on roads or in parking lots.
