Employees enjoyed a little break during their work week at the annual Staff Appreciation Day on May 17.

On May 17, Virginia Tech celebrated the hard work and dedication of thousands of university staff members during Staff Appreciation Day. With the help of 45 faculty-staff volunteers, employees enjoyed an assortment of activities, such as fitness classes, campus tours, live entertainment, and team competitions. More than 450 employees participated in the campus tours, free massages and fitness classes. The event also included buffet-styled lunch for employees, catered by Personal Touch Catering. The event was held at Owens Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Some employees chose to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful day with their coworkers.

Other employees chose to sit inside Owens Dining Hall and enjoy a blue grass music performance by the Half Throttle Band.

Employees also had the chance to win prizes such as shirts, cups, and water bottles during the event.

Employees got to "spin the wheel" to win various prizes.

Another activity available to employees was 15 minute free massages.

Employees took a break from their work day to play against their coworkers in cornhole and horseshoes in the Owens Courtyard.

Various tours were also offered to staff employees, including a tour of the Hokie Stone Quarry.

Personal Touch Catering provided a banquet-style lunch for employees, which offered hamburgers and sides as well as a vegetarian option.
