One of the nation's foremost experts on estate planning for forest landowners, Harry Haney will teach multiple courses on timber income tax, estate planning for forest landowners, basic forest finance, and strategies for using conservation easements. Haney has been the Garland Professor and Extension Specialist in the Department of Forestry at Virginia Tech.

For more than 28 years, Haney has been assisting forest landowners in how to manage timber properties to achieve their objectives and how to transfer holdings to their heirs with minimum tax disruptions. Each program will help forest landowners understand their financial obligations.

The upcoming programs include: Forest Finance: Basic Terms and Concepts (one-day) and Practical Applications in Forest Finance (two-day), in Blacksburg on August 19 and August 20-21 respectively, and in Athens, GA on August 25, and August 26-27. Also, Strategies for Using Conservation Easements will be offered in Athens, Ga. on October 8-9. Other courses include: Estate Planning for Forest Landowners, a two-day short course on November 5-6, in Blacksburg, and in Athens, Ga. on November 11-12; Timber Income Tax, a two-day short course in Athens, Ga., Dec. 2-3; Timber Income Tax, a one day program in Columbus, Ohio on Oct. 16, a one day program for accountants, CPAs and tax practitioners, Dec. 11, in Richmond.
