The Virginia Tech College of Natural Resources has awarded its Jeffrey Andrew Fuerst Scholarship to Katharine Sanford, daughter of William and Cheryl Sanford of Virginia Beach.

The wildlife science major is a graduate of Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach.

The Jeffrey Andrew Fuerst Scholarship is awarded to two rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors in the College of Natural Resources with a grade point average of 3.4 or higher, in the amount of $1,100 each.

The program at Virginia Tech's College of Natural Resources has been recognized by peers as among the top five. Areas of studies include environmental resource management; fisheries and wildlife sciences; forestry; geospatial and environmental analysis; natural resource recreation; urban forestry; wood science and forest products; geography; and international development.
