Virginia Governor Mark Warner will be the guest of honor at a Partners' Pre-Opening Preview for the new Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) in Danville, Va. on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m.

Virginia Tech Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Minnis E. Ridenour will announce a significant university research commitment. Ben J. Davenport Jr., vice chairman of the Future of the Piedmont Foundation, will announce major private contributions for furniture and fixtures at IALR.

The event, open to the media, will bring together invited local and state officials and representatives of project partners, including the City of Danville, Pittsylvania County, the Future of the Piedmont Foundation, Virginia Tech, Averett University and Danville Community College.
