Barry Feil, of Blacksburg, former director of programs and operations with Celebrate Fairfax Inc. in Fairfax, Va., has been named director of special events at Virginia Tech.

Feil brings more than 14 years of event planning experience to the university. Feil spent the previous six years at Celebrate Fairfax Inc overseeing all aspects of large-scale festivals and events for Fairfax County. Prior to that position, he spent nine years at George Washington University, where he managed a variety of events, programs, and facilities. He is currently a member of the board of directors of the Virginia Festivals and Events Association.

Feil received his bachelor’s degree from George Washington University.
