Wise honored with Research Staff Co-worker Award
June 30, 2006
Virginia Tech alumna and employee Barbara Wise of Blacksburg, Va. was presented with the “Research Staff Co-worker Award” during the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine’s recent 2006 Research Symposium.
Wise, a laboratory specialist in the Diagnostic Toxicology Laboratory, has been on the job for six years. Her primary job responsibilities include running clinical diagnostic tests for hospital patients to analyzing basic toxicology research samples for Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine researchers. She enjoys her work, and says the wide variety of tasks and equipment she gets to use are some of her favorite parts of the job.
The rationale for Wise’s honor is clear to those who work with her. “Barbara is extremely hardworking and dedicated. She is always ready and available to help others, even those outside of her area,” said her supervisor, Dr. Blair Meldrum, a professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology and coordinator of the Diagnostic Toxicology Laboratory.
Wise says she feels honored to be recognized with the award.
