(6 p.m. EDT)--Police have completed their search of Virginia Tech's Torgersen Hall without incident. As a precaution, the building will remain closed until Tuesday morning.

Provided no new information is discovered, the building will reopen tomorrow at 7 a.m. for regular business. Classes will be held on the regular schedule.

The case remains under investigation.

Alumni Mall and Drillfield Drive are now open. Vehicular traffic including Blacksburg Transit can resume normal campus patterns.

Bomb threat closes Torgersen Hall; Traffic re-routed

BLACKSBURG, Va., April 2, 2007 (2:30 p.m. EDT)--The university has received a bomb threat for Torgersen Hall. The building has been evacuated and closed to all personnel. All classes in Torgersen Hall are cancelled for the remainder of the day and evening.

The Alumni Mall will be closed to through-traffic in both directions. Travelers are encouraged to use another route.

Virginia Tech Police are on the scene.

Effective immediately, all Blacksburg Transit (BT) bus routes, with pick up and drop off points on campus, will be detoured to Perry Street. BT buses will only travel to Perry Street. If you need to ride a bus from anywhere on campus, you must go to Perry Street to catch the bus. If you are traveling to campus, BT will only go as far as Perry Street. This detour is in effect until the bomb threat at Torgersen Hall has been eliminated. For more information call Blacksburg Transit at 961-1185.
