A reception will be held on Tuesday, April 17 at 5:30 P.M. in Owens Banquet Hall to honor those nominated for the second annual Favorite Faculty program, and the students who recommended them. This will provide a chance for students and faculty members to spend time together outside of the classroom and celebrate their positive interactions.

The Office of Residence Life sponsors the program to give on-campus residents an opportunity to recognize their favorite faculty members for their dedication, outstanding contributions, or personal influence.

Nominations soared this year, with a total of 117––twice the amount received last year. One hundred one students nominated 84 faculty members, with several receiving multiple nominations. Physics instructor Roger Chang and English and interdisciplinary studies instructor Megan O’Neill received 10 nominations each.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to gather these faculty members together to celebrate the impact they have had on the students they teach, while also encouraging the students to spend more time with faculty outside of the instructional setting,” said associate director of residence life James Penven.

Both teaching/research and administrative/faculty members were eligible to be nominated. The program encourages students to recognize the positive impact faculty members have on them and their college experiences.
