Lynette A. Redd, former director of alumni affairs at West Virginia State University, has been named director of multicultural alumni programs at Virginia Tech.

In this position, Redd will work to increase involvement and participation of individuals from multicultural constituencies in alumni affairs and activities. Working with the Multicultural Alumni Advisory Board, she will oversee special outreach projects aimed at engaging the community in activities related to university and alumni affairs. In addition, Redd will coordinate and plan reunions and other events for multicultural constituency alumni and assist the Office of Undergraduate Admissions with recruitment of prospective under-represented students and plan and coordinate recruitment events in targeted areas.

Redd had served as director of alumni affairs at West Virginia Sate University since 1995. From 1992 to 1995, she worked as admissions counselor and recruiter at West Virginia State.

She received her bachelor's degree from Mercy College and a master's degree from Marshall University.
