Virginia Tech's Fourth Annual Multicultural Luncheon, sponsored by the Office for Equity and Inclusion, Office of the Provost, Student Government Association, Human Resources, Staff Senate, and Faculty Senate, will be held Thursday, Sept. 11, from 11:30 a.m.to 1:30 p.m., in the Commonwealth Ballroom in Squires Student Center.

The luncheon is free and open to all faculty, staff, and students.

The featured speaker for this event will be Michael Soon Lee. Lee, a diversity consultant, speaks internationally about respecting differences in the workplace. He advises organizations about selling products and services to a diverse population. Through this effort he hopes that organizations will see the benefits of multicultural marketing.

He was the first Asian American to earn the Certified Speaking Professional designation in the history of the National Speakers Association. Through his company, EthnoConnect, Lee offers diversity training, seminars, coaching, and mentoring. He has provided training for clients such as Coca-Cola, General Motors, Boeing, and Chevron.

The luncheon will also serve as a kick-off to the celebrations marking the fourth anniversary of the university’s Principles of Community.

All attendees must RSVP to Denise Walker (mailto:dewalke1@vt.edu) at (540) 231-1403 by Friday, Sept. 5.
