Recreational Sports hosts University Bookstore Homecoming 5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Fun Run

Lace up your running or walking shoes and celebrate homecoming week with Virginia Tech students, alumni, and the Blacksburg community.

Virginia Tech Recreational Sports will be hosting the University Bookstore Homecoming 5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Fun Run on Sunday, Oct. 5, beginning and finishing at Margaret Beeks Elementary School in Blacksburg The 1-Mile Fun Run will begin at noon and the 5K will begin at 1 p.m., rain or shine.

Interested participants may register online until Thursday, Oct. 2 by noon. Races fees vary. Early registration is $15 for the 5K, $5 for the 1-Mile Fun Run, and $20 for both races. Late registration is $10 for the 1-Mile Fun Run and $20 for the 5K. Race packet pick up starts Friday, Oct. 3, at the Recreation Sports main office located in 142 McComas Hall between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., or race day at Margaret Beeks Elementary school between 9 a.m. and noon.

First and second place trophies will be awarded to the winners of each age group for the 5K, and ribbons will be awarded to the top three finishers of each age group for the 1-Mile Fun Run. Participants also receive a free t-shirt.
