The Virginia Tech ice hockey club team opens their season Saturday, Sept. 20 with the "Pink in the Rink" benefit game for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer organization.

The game against the Liberty University Flames is guaranteed to be a competitive match up in the rink. The team has organized a day full of fun events for spectators and Hokie fans to enjoy. Events include a car/bike show, concert, and meet and greet session with the Hokie Hockey team, all taking place at the Roanoke Civic Center starting at noon.

Public skate is available from noon to 3 p.m. Spectators will enjoy listening to the K92 Remote Broadcast, participating in the jersey silent auction, raffles, and other events. The Burning Bridges concert kicks off at 4:30 p.m. along with an outdoor cook-out to get fans excited for the game at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets cost $3 to attend or $10 for game admission, t-shirt, and entrance into the post-game meet and greet social at Awful Arthur’s in downtown Roanoke. Game tickets are free for Virginia Tech students and children under 12.

The Virginia Tech ice hockey team is part of the ACCHL, a Division II member within the American Collegiate Hockey Association. Virginia Tech started its Ice Hockey league in 1984 out of Roanoke as an adult league. The club is now one of the 29 Extramural Sport Clubs within the Virginia Tech Department of Recreational Sports. Holiday Inn University and vitaminwater are sponsors for all 29 Virginia Tech Sport Clubs.
