The summer 2009 issue of Virginia Tech Research features articles on how "Engineers seek to stem massive, deadly flow of heart disease" and how wood scientists are making medicine more efficient by adding natural products to the mix. During this 200th anniversary of the birth of Darwin, there is also an article on how and when life on earth became most huge over the course of 3.5 billion years.

Other articles look at work being done to enhance the nutrition of the fruits we love. And finance faculty members reflect on questions they will be asking about the economic meltdown and the government's responses. In all, the issue of the semiannual magazine looks at seven research projects.
