The Kandinsky Trio will be joined by the violin/viola duo marcolivia for a concert on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 8 p.m. in the Squires Recital Salon on the campus of Virginia Tech.

The concert is a part of the University Chamber Music at Virginia Tech Music Series by the Department of Music.

The Trio will open the program with Schubert’s “Notturno.” Marcolivia will join the Trio for the world premiere of Jon Jeffrey Grier’s exciting piano quartet, “Locriana” and Robert Schumann’s seminal “Piano Quintet in E Flat Major, Op. 44.”

Now in its 22nd season, the Kandinsky Trio draws in new audiences with both its passionate performances of masterworks and innovative re-definition of chamber music. The Trio is comprised of Elizabeth Bacheider, piano; Alan Weinstein, cello; and Benedict Goodfriend, violin. The violin/viola duo marcolivia, Marc Ramirez and Olivia Hajioff, has concertized extensively throughout the United States, Europe, South America, and Japan.
