Many options are available to forest landowners who want to earn supplemental income from their property.

For those interested in pursuing wildlife-related income sources, Virginia Cooperative Extension and the Virginia Forest Landowner Education Program in Virginia Tech’s College of Natural Resources will offer an afternoon course entitled, “Wildlife, Land, and Money: Supplemental Income From Wildlife on Your Property.”

Topics addressed in the course include habitat development, options for landowner leases, wetlands and hunting leases, landowner liability, applicable laws, and cost-share programs. Presenters from the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Virginia Forestry Association, and other entities will assist participants with their wildlife-related land management objectives.

The course will be held on June 4 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Appomattox Community Center, 220 Community Lane, Appomattox, Va.; registration begins at 12:30 p.m. There is no charge for the course, but space is limited to the first 50 participants. Pre-registration is recommended.
