Virginia Tech Union and Pi Beta Phi sorority bring Fiction 20 Down, Devin Spear to campus for benefit concert
September 30, 2011
Virginia Tech Union and Pi Beta Phi sorority are sponsoring a benefit concert featuring hip hop/reggae group Fiction 20 Down and solo artist Devin Spear on Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Commonwealth Ballroom in Squires Student Center.
Tickets will be available at the door starting at 4 p.m. on the day of the show. Admission is $5 for Virginia Tech students, faculty, and staff and $7 for the general public. Doors open at 7 p.m.
The music begins with opening act Devin Spear from Washington, D.C., who describes his musical style as “relaxica.” The Baltimore-based headliner, Fiction 20 Down, has performed across the region and at various benefit shows, and is scheduled to tour with the band 311 in the near future.
This is just one of the events occurring as part of the Pi Phiestival, a series of philanthropic events sponsored by the Pi Beta Phi sorority. All proceeds from the concert and other Pi Phiestival events will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the New River Valley and First Book, a program that donates books to children in need.
After 5 p.m., free parking is available in the Squires Lot, located at the corner of College Avenue and Otey Street or the Architecture Annex Lot also on Otey Street. Find more parking information online or call 540-231-3200.
