Sara W. Leftwich has been named manager of dual career and special projects in the Department of Human Resources at Virginia Tech.

Leftwich will lead the university’s dual career program which provides job search assistance to the spouses and partners of new faculty who are re-locating to the New River Valley. In this role, Leftwich will provide general information on employment in the region, help identify appropriate employers and make connections with key contacts, critique resumes, cover letters and other documents, and help with interviewing.

Prior to joining the Department of Human Resources on Dec. 10, Leftwich worked as the senior recruiter and staffing coordinator for the Office of University Development at Virginia Tech.

Leftwich also has experience as staffing manager and recruiter for BellSouth Communication Systems and has worked in the financial industry as the vice president of business development for Freedom First Federal Credit Union, a branch manager for Central Fidelity Bank, and vice president of loan administration for Member One Federal Credit Union.

She is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management and the New River Valley and Roanoke Regional chambers of commerce. At Virginia Tech, she has served as the coordinator of the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign for six years.

Leftwich received a bachelor's degree in communications from Virginia Tech and has completed the Human Resource Management Certificate Program at Mary Baldwin College.
