The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets  and the Highty-Tighties, the regimental band, will be performing in two concerts this week.

The Southern Colonels, the Corps of Cadets 17-piece jazz orchestra, will perform at the second annual “Jazz on the Upper Quad” event starting at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3, in front of Lane Hall. Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged. The group will play music from the big band swing era, Latin, rock, and patriotic music.

On Sunday, May 5, the Highty-Tighties will perform their first wind ensemble concert beginning at 5 p.m. in the Old Dominion Ballroom in Squires Student Center. This program is inspired by the rich history of the band and will include marches by John Phillip Sousa, as well as patriotic and contemporary pieces.

Both concerts are free and open to all. Parking information is available online.
