Hunter Gresham has been named chief of staff for the Division of Student Affairs

In this capacity, Gresham will join Vice President for Student Affairs Patty Perillo, the division’s executive leadership team, and more than 3,600 division faculty and staff in creating programs and services that enhance and complement the Virginia Tech educational experience.

“In addition to her stellar professional experience, Hunter is bright, competent, organized, responsible, relationship-centered, and a consummate team player,” said Perillo. “She is deeply committed to excellence and engaging in work that matters. She will be a great addition to the Division of Student Affairs, as we work together and with others throughout the university to make the Hokie student experience as personally enlightening as it is academically rewarding.”

Gresham has been director of special events for Virginia Tech since 2005. In this capacity, she has been responsible for all aspects of university-wide special event programs, including those associated with The Campaign for Virginia Tech: Invent the Future, presidential events, and dedicatory events for university facilities.

Gresham began her career at Virginia Tech in 2001 in the Division of Student Affairs’ event planning, where she served in several capacities, culminating in her appointment as assistant director in 2004. Prior to that, she worked as program director for the Chamber of Commerce in Kingsport, Tenn., and as marketing coordinator for Universal Companies Inc. in Bristol, Va.

Gresham earned a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. She graduated summa cum laude and was a member and officer of Gamma Sigma Sigma national service sorority. As an international student ambassador for Up with People, she traveled, performed, completed community service, and lived with 65 host families in 14 countries. She also served as operations intern for Up with People’s large international cast, and completed a news and current events assistantship with the global education and arts organization.
