Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets alumnus Lt. Col. Sean Henrickson, U.S. Marine Corps, who earned degrees in psychology from the College of Science and sociology from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences in 1996 has been selected as the Hokie Hero for the Georgia Tech game.

The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets Hokie Hero program started in 2006 by IMG College and sponsored by the University Bookstore, honors Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets alumni who are currently deployed. Recipients of this honor are highlighted by Bill Roth and Mike Burnop during the radio broadcast of Virginia Tech football games, on the Corps of Cadets website and in the Corps Review magazine.

Henrickson is currently stationed at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan, as a member of the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Forward. He is on his seventh deployment and currently serving as a senior watch officer, exercising command and control of all Marine Corps tactical aviation in Afghanistan.

Henrickson is a member of the Class of 1996 of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets and was the Color Guard commander during his junior year. He says he would like to send his love to his wife Melinda and three children Ryan, Jack, and Mae, as well as thank all fellow Hokies who are serving our country.
