Dr. Kemba Clapp of Madison, Wis., has joined the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech as an assistant professor of radiology in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences.

Clapp comes to the college from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she completed a diagnostic imaging residency at the School of Veterinary Medicine. She was previously an intern in diagnostic imaging at Louisiana State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge, La., and in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists in New York, N.Y.

As a new member of the college’s radiology team, Clapp will use her experience in both small and large animal radiology to provide diagnostic imaging support for clients at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. She will also train and supervise veterinary students and pursue her research interests in cross-sectional imaging and ultrasound.

Clapp earned a doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Tuskegee University’s School of Veterinary Medicine and a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Cornell University. She also has a specialty certification from the University of Pennsylvania Hip Improvement Program.
