Sections of Virginia are experiencing winter weather today including snow accumulation and colder than normal temperatures. Virginia Tech News will provide the latest information on how the weather will affect university operations and class schedules.

Closures and cancellations

Jan. 30

7:30 a.m.: Due to inclement weather conditions, the Virginia Tech campus in Virginia Beach and Newport News will be closed.

All day and evening classes have been cancelled. All university events scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 30 have been cancelled.

Jan. 28

2 p.m.: The Virginia Tech Richmond Center will close today, Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 5 p.m. and classes are cancelled for tonight.

1:30 p.m.: The Virginia Tech Hampton Roads Center, which is composed of Newport News and Virginia Beach – both  centers will close today, Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 1:30 p.m. and will be closed tomorrow (Wednesday, Jan. 29). All classes are cancelled for Tuesday and Wednesday night.

1:30 p.m.: Due to cold temperatures, the mock DUI event scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 29 on the Drillfield has been canceled. The event will be re-scheduled later this spring. Virginia Tech News will publish information on the event once it is rescheduled. See related Virginia Tech News story.
