As part of its 50th anniversary celebration, the College of Architecture and Urban Studies presents the Collegiate Legacy: Emeritus Faculty Exhibition Aug. 21 to Sept. 14 in the Miles C. Horton Jr. Gallery and the Sherwood Payne Quillen ’71 Reception Gallery in Virginia Tech’s Moss Arts Center.

The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, reflects and celebrates 50 years of art and design in the college, displaying works by emeritus faculty who are recognized artists that shaped the college’s highly ranked and internationally recognized programs.

A reception will be held Sept. 6, 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Moss Arts Center Grand Lobby for faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends to view the work and meet many of the artists. The reception is part of the college’s 50th Anniversary Celebration Weekend Sept. 4 through 7, which will offer a wide variety of events.

Nineteen emeritus faculty artists from the College of Architecture and Urban Studies and their families, collectors, and galleries have loaned artwork for the exhibition. Artwork from 1943 to 2013 will be presented showing the faculty’s interests and talents throughout their lives. A wide variety of sculptures, paintings, photographs, computer graphics, and drawings will be exhibited throughout the upper and lower level galleries.

Featured artists in the exhibition are Steve Bickley, Jeanette Bowker, Ellen Braaten, T. Truman Capone, Dean Carter, Eugene Egger, Olivio Ferrari, Robert Fields, Preston Frazer, Robert Graham, Victor Huggins, Dennis Jones, Ray Kass, Dennis Kilper, Derek Myers, Al Sarvis, Donald Sunshine, Maryann Harman Walke, and Henry Wiss. Capone, professor emeritus and former director of the School of Visual Arts, and Deborah A. Sim, director of the Armory Gallery and an instructor in the School of Visual Arts, are the co-curators for the exhibition.

The artwork will be on display in the Moss Arts Center during regular gallery hours Aug. 21-Sept. 14.  Parking is available in the North End Parking Garage on Turner Street. Virginia Tech faculty and staff possessing a valid Virginia Tech parking permit can enter and exit the garage free of charge. Limited street parking is also available. Parking on Alumni Mall is free on weekdays after 5 p.m. and on weekends.
