Linda Anderson honored with emerita status

Linda Anderson, professor of English in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech, has been conferred the title of “professor emerita” by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.
The title of emeritus may be conferred on retired professors, associate professors, and administrative officers who are specially recommended to the board of visitors by Virginia Tech President Timothy Sands. Nominated individuals who are approved by the board of visitors receive an emeritus certificate from the university.
A member of the Virginia Tech community since 1987, Anderson made significant contributions to the understanding of the works of Shakespeare through her research on his plays. She was the author or co-author of three books and more than 30 peer reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and reviews.
In addition, she served as a reviewer for five national journals and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Anderson was active in the International Shakespeare Association, the Malone Society, the Renaissance Society of America, the Shakespeare Association of America, the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, the South Atlantic Language Association, and the South Central Modern Language Association.
In the classroom, Anderson, taught a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate courses ranging across the full spectrum of Early English literature. She placed a strong emphasis on standards and student learning.
Anderson received her bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota.
