Dustin Read has been appointed an assistant professor in the Department of Apparel, Housing, and Resource Management at Virginia Tech’s College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.

Read is one of 27 new tenure-track faculty members at the college this fall. The new hires are part of the college’s ongoing efforts to attract renowned scholars to strengthen and expand its teaching, research, and engagement programs. The college has added more than 100 full-time permanent faculty members in the past four years.

Read’s research interests include housing affordability, real estate development, and land-use policy issues at the local level. In addition to real estate, he has extensive experience in international education. He will teach commercial leasing and management, and advanced residential property management.

He has been published in several journals, including American Review of Public Administration, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, and Urban Affairs Review. 

Read received his bachelor's degree from Truman State University, a master's degree from the University of Florida, a Juris Doctor degree the University of Missouri, and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
