As part of the Leaders in Action lecture series hosted each term by the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets and the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets Maj. Gen. W. Thomas Rice Center for Leader Development, Brig. Gen. Timothy Williams will speak at Virginia Tech on Thursday, Oct 30. 

His talk will take place at 3:30 p.m. in the Commonwealth Ballroom in Squires Student Center, located at 290 College Ave. This event is open to the public, but space is limited. Please email Robin Atkins if you plan to attend.

Williams serves as the Adjutant General of Virginia and in this role commands the Virginia Army National Guard, the Virginia Air National Guard, and the Virginia Defense Force. He will speak to the cadets about leadership and ethics, his corps experiences, and his lessons learned from his almost 30-year career serving the nation and the commonwealth.

Williams graduated from the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets in 1985 where he was a member of the regimental band, the Highty-Tighties. He received his bachelor's degree in management science from the Pamplin College of Business and was commissioned as a field artillery officer in the U.S. Army. After five years on active duty, he transitioned to the Virginia National Guard in 1990.

With a visitor’s pass, parking is available in the Squires Lot, located at the corner of College Avenue and Otey Street or the Architecture Annex Lot also on Otey Street. Parking meters within the Squires Lot will need to be paid. A visitor’s pass may be obtained Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6, Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. at the Visitor Center, located at 925 Prices Fork Road, near the intersection of Prices Fork and University City Boulevard next to the Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center. A visitor’s pass may also be obtained from the Virginia Tech Police Station, located at 330 Sterrett Drive, outside of the Visitor Center hours.
