Rick Sparks, currently the director of new student programs in the Division of Student Affairs, will hold the additional position of interim director of Student Centers and Activities effective Nov. 25.
In addition, Eric Margiotta, operations manager in Student Center and Activities, will become the department's interim associate director Nov. 25.
Both Sparks and Margiotta will hold these interim positions during the time a national search is conducted to fill the positions permanently.
“I am grateful that Rick and Eric are willing to step-in and step-up during this period of transition," said Angela Simmons, assistant vice president for student affairs. "I look forward to continued great work they and others will do.”
Justin Camputaro, the current director of student center and activities, is stepping down to complete his work on a doctoral degree. Scott Reed, former assistant director of student centers and activities, recently left Virginia Tech for another position.
Student Centers and Activities provides a variety of activities, educational opportunities, programs, facilities, and services that enhance student development and enrich the quality of campus life at Virginia Tech. The department operates three student centers--Squires Student Center, G. Burke Johnston Student Center, and the Graduate Life Center at Donaldson Brown--as well as the War Memorial Chapel.
