Bryant “Wes” Cochran, 25, of Blacksburg, a junior at Virginia Tech majoring in biological sciences in the College of Science, died April 11 following a battle with leukemia.  

Cochran was born on December 29, 1989, in Blacksburg, a son of Darrell Arthur and Edra Gaye Harvey Cochran.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Inez and German Harvey; grandmother Dorothy Hoover; an aunt Jean Cole; and an uncle Belford Cochran.  

In addition to his parents he is survived by two sisters Donna Davis and Tonia Cochran; a brother Dean and Carolyn Cochran and their children Samantha, Chase and Jacob Cochran of Floyd County, Virginia; uncles and aunts Alfred and Mary Harvey, and their children Adam and Monica Harvey, Misty and John Maynor and Bella,  Billy and Beatrice Harvey, and their children Shane and Annie Harvey, Steven and Sherry Harvey, Donnie and Gerald Jackson and Payten, all of  West Virginia, and Ray Cole of  North Carolina; and a host of other loving family and friends.  

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, April 16, at the Sunhill Country Church,  Sunhill, West Virginia, with Pastor Jay Blankenship and the Rev. Johnathon Nub Blankenship officiating. Cochran will be laid to rest in German Harvey Cemetery, Cedar Creek, West Virginia.
