Wu Feng of the College of Engineering's computer science department, along with Virginia Tech President Timothy D. Sands, tells how parallel computing opens up new worlds. Researchers can now attack problems in a fraction of the time that traditional methods require. Not just genomic analysis but other fields are affected as well. Feng says, "When colleagues come to me, they're looking to be empowered by computing rather than be at the mercy of computing."
