American folk rock group The Avett Brothers will return to Virginia Tech on Sept. 11.

The Virginia Tech Union (VTU) announced plans for the concert at Burruss Hall Auditorium with tickets going on sale Aug. 7 online and at the ticket office at Squires Student Center.

Tickets are $30 for Virginia Tech students and $45 for the general public.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The Avett Brothers, originally from Concord, North Carolina, performed at Virginia Tech in 2011. They combine bluegrass, country, punk, pop melodies, folk, and rock.

“I really think this concert is going to be something that Virginia Tech students enjoy,” said VTU President Hannah Thomas. “The Avett Brothers are so big in this area, and new students will get to have this big event in their first few weeks. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enhance their out-of-classroom experience.”

More information on the performance will be available on the VTU Facebook page.

The Virginia Tech Union is responsible for bringing concerts, speakers, films, special events, and other events to the Virginia tech Campus. VTU aims to provide quality educational and social entertainment that represents the diverse culture of Virginia Tech’s students and its community. In addition, VTU enhances the students through leadership and volunteer opportunities.
