7:15 a.m. update: From Virginia Tech Dining Services:

  • VetMed Café is closed today;
  • Turner Place, Au Bon Pain Squires and Au Bon Pain Goodwin Hall scheduled to open at 9 a.m. today;
  • Au Bon Pain Graduate Life Center opening to be determined;
  • Other VT Dining Centers operating as scheduled.

5:30 a.m. update: The Virginia Tech National Capitol Region will open at 11 a.m. on Tuesday Feb. 16.  This notice applies to our locations in Falls Church, Arlington, and Alexandria.

5:15 a.m. update: The Virginia Tech Blacksburg campus will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16. 8 a.m. classes have been canceled; classes starting after 10 a.m. will be held as scheduled.

The Language and Culture Institute in Fairfax, Virginia, will be closed Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Monday night update: The Virginia Tech School of Medicine will close Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Blacksburg Transit will return to a full service schedule on Tuesday, Feb. 16, with the exception of the Go Anywhere route in Christiansburg. The Go Anywhere route will not be in service. Allow extra time for travel; delays are expected due to the road conditions.

10 a.m. update: The Recreational Sports spaces in War Memorial Hall will close at 2 p.m. today. The pool at McComas Hall will close at 4 p.m. For the latest updates, go to theRecreational Sports website or follow @VTRecSports on Twitter.

9:20 a.m. update: There will be no Blacksburg Transit service in Blacksburg or Christiansburg today. For updates go to FacebookTwitter or the Blacksburg Transist website

8:40 a.m. update: Due to the weather, 4-H Day at the Capitol in Richmond, originally scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 16, is being postponed until Tuesday, Feb. 23.

7:50 a.m. update: The Squires Student Center will open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. Johnston Student Center and the student center at the Graduate Life Center are closed today.

7:30 a.m. update: The Virginia Tech Richmond Center is closed today.

7 a.m. update: Virginia Tech in the National Capital Region will be closed today due to adverse weather conditions. Administrative offices are closed; classes are canceled. This applies to locations in Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church, and Merrifield.

The Virginia Tech Language and Culture Institute in Fairfax is also closed today.

12:15 a.m. update Virginia Tech's campus in Blacksburg is closed today due to inclement weather conditions. All day and evening classes have been canceled. All university events scheduled for today have been canceled. University staff designated emergency personnel must report as instructed by their supervisor.

The Virginia Tech Roanoke Center and Catawba Sustainability Center will also be closed today. All day and evening classes are canceled.

The Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine's Veterinary Teaching Hospital will be open for emergencies only on Monday.

There will be no Blacksburg Transit service this morning in Blacksburg or Christiansburg. Staff will reevaluate the road conditions later this morning and determine whether or not there will be service in the afternoon. For updates go to Facebook, Twitter or the Blacksburg Transist website

2 p.m. update: Virginia Tech's Office of Undergraduate Admissions is canceling all campus tours and admissions information sessions on Monday, Feb. 15.

1:15 p.m. update: Because of the forecast, snow emergency routes go into effect at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 14. These roadways must remain open for emergency vehicle use. All vehicles parked along these five roads (parallel and diagonal) must be removed or be towed at owner's expense:

  • Washington Street: between Kent Street and Duck Pond Drive
  • Kent Street: between Washington Street and Drillfield Drive
  • South Drillfield Drive: between Kent Street and West Campus Drive (both sides of the road)
  • Beamer Way: between Washington Street and Southgate Drive.
  • Alumni Mall inbound lane only (the outbound lane will remain unaffected)
