Lindsey Haugh has been named director of communications for Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering.

As director, Haugh will lead internal and external communications, media relations, and marketing programs for 14 departments and schools within the College of Engineering – Aerospace and Ocean Engineering, Biological Systems Engineering, Biomedical Engineering and Mechanics, Chemical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Engineering Education, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mining and Minerals Engineering, the Myers-Lawson School of Construction, and the School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences.

Haugh has worked with the College of Engineering for over five years, most recently as interim director of news and external relations, serving as editor and writer for multiple publications, organizing alumni events, and media relations. Formerly, Haugh served as assistant director of news and external relations and media specialist.

Before coming to work at Virginia Tech in 2011, Haugh was creative director for CWP Cabinetry in Roanoke, Virginia, a national custom cabinetry manufacturer. Prior to serving in that role, Haugh served as marketing specialist for the company. As director, Haugh worked alongside the vice president of marketing to rebrand the company, support external relationships, and develop and implement strategic marketing plan, which garnered an American Advertising Award for comprehensive marketing collateral.

Haugh earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts with concentration in graphic design from Virginia Tech in 2001 and is taking coursework towards a master’s degree in communications, also from Virginia Tech. She is a member of the National Association of Science Writers.
