The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors will hold its quarterly board meeting at 1:15 p.m. Monday, June 6, in the Board Room of Torgersen Hall (Room 2100) on the Blacksburg campus.

On Sunday, June 5, board members will tour the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute located at 2 Riverside Circle in Roanoke from 12:45 to 2:30 p.m. From 3:30 to 5 p.m., an open information session will be held in the Latham Ballroom at the Inn at Virginia Tech. The Research Committee will then meet in open session from 5 to 5:45 p.m. in the Duck Pond Room, also at the Inn at Virginia Tech.

On Monday, June 6, the following committee sessions will be held:

  • The Academic Affairs Committee will meet in closed session at 8:30 a.m.320 Lavery Hall, followed by an open session at 9 a.m. at the same location.

  • The Buildings and Grounds Committee will depart from the Inn at Virginia Tech at 8:20 a.m. to tour the new classroom building. The committee will meet in open session at 9:45 a.m. in 330 Lavery Hall. At 11:30 a.m. the committee will meet jointly with the Finance and Audit Committee in open session.in the 340 Lavery Hall.

  • The Finance and Audit Committee will meet in closed session at 7:30 a.m. in 345 Lavery Hall and will meet in open session at 8:30 a.m. in 340 Lavery Hall before joining the Buildings and Grounds Committee at 11:30 a.m.

  • The Student Affairs and Athletics Committee will meet in open session at 8:30 a.m. in 340 Lavery Hall.

During the two-day meeting, board members will receive presentations on the VT-Shaped Student and will consider resolutions on the 2016-2017 university budget; promotions, tenure, and continued appointments; the establishment of an Honors College, and planning renovations for undergraduate science laboratories.
