Bradley Paye has been appointed assistant professor in the Department of Finance, Insurance, and Business Law at Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business.

He is one of five new full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty members at Pamplin this fall. Their addition reflects the college’s commitment to hiring such faculty to further strengthen its teaching, research, and business outreach, particularly in the areas of business analytics, innovation through entrepreneurship, and sustainable global prosperity.

Paye received his Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego, in 2004. He received his bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University.

Paye’s research interests center on asset pricing and interactions between financial markets and macroeconomic conditions. His broader academic interests include volatility modeling, forecasting, econometrics, and the interdisciplinary field of neurofinance.

His research has been published in such journals as the Journal of Financial Economics, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and the Journal of Econometrics.

A former faculty member of the University of Georgia and Rice University, Paye has taught courses from the undergraduate to the Ph.D. levels.

He has served as an ad hoc referee for a wide range of academic journals and on the program committee of various academic conferences, including the annual meetings of the European Financial Association and the Financial Management Association.
