Beth Osborne, director of finance and administration in the Pamplin College of Business, has been named director of operational effectiveness in the college’s Apex Systems Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

In her new assignment, Osborne will oversee the administrative and operational affairs of the center. She will retain responsibility for her current administrative role in the college.

“Beth brings amazing experience, connections, and operational knowledge to our team,” said center executive director Derick Maggard.

Osborne began her career at Virginia Tech in 2000 and has held multiple positions during the past 16 years. Her experience includes managing administrative operations, budget and financial planning, and human resources management.

She has a master’s degree from Virginia Tech in career and technical education, with a focus in organizational psychology. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Bluefield College in management, with a focus in workforce development.

In 2009, she completed the Administrative Management Institute at Cornell University. She holds a professional certification in human resources.

The Apex Systems Center seeks to support curricular programs across the university in educating students about entrepreneurship and involving them in entrepreneurship activities.

The center also serves as a resource for outreach to the business community and supports faculty research related to entrepreneurship, technology commercialization, and new venture formation and growth.

“We have built a team, curriculum, and experiential programs that are shaping the future of higher education,” Maggard said. “We are providing learning experiences that are having a tremendous impact on our students as we prepare them for the 21st century workforce. Beth will be a key member of our team as we continue to grow and scale our programs and curriculum.”
