The Campus-to-Campus Bus connects Blacksburg to campuses in the National Capital Region. The new service provides another option for students and faculty traveling during upcoming holiday breaks.

Editor's note: This story has been updated with new options for travel for the upcoming Thanksgiving and winter breaks in 2017.

Students who are planning to travel for the upcoming Thanksgiving and winter breaks may want to consider programs available through Parking and Transportation Services.

  • Blacksburg Transit (BT): Blacksburg Transit has 46 buses that serve 13 routes in Blacksburg and Christiansburg. Passengers can also use BT to make connections to other bus lines, with service to places such as Radford, Roanoke, and Washington, D.C. BT rides are free to students who present their Hokie Passport.
  • Smart Way: The Smart Way bus is a commuter service that provides transportation between Squires Student Center and the Roanoke Valley for $4 each way. This shuttle can be used to connect to the Roanoke Regional Airport and to the Megabus route to Washington, D.C. Monday through Saturday. Smart Way offers a special transfer option to allow travelers returning to the airport on a Sunday to use the Roanoke/Blacksburg Airport Shuttle for $4. Monthly passes are available to Virginia Tech faculty, staff, and students for 25 percent off the normal price.
  • Zimride: Zimride’s Virginia Tech carpooling board allows users to post in search of rides or to offer rides of their own and provides the opportunity to exchange money through their secure platform.

Around Virginia and beyond

  • Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport.: The Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport offers daily flights to eight major American cities, including Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C.
