As students begin to arrive back to campus following winter break, Virginia Tech is preparing to open facilities and relaunch programming.

Residence Halls

Residence halls will open for most students on Friday, Jan. 13 at noon.

New students, especially those who have needs for Hokie Passport and other university services, will be encouraged to use this day to move in, as those offices will be open.   Housing and Residence Life offices will be open from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13 and Saturday, Jan. 14 for new student check-in and key pick-up.

Residents returning from the fall semester can arrive any time or day after Friday at noon; however, returning students are encouraged to wait until Saturday or Sunday to return.

Dining Centers

Spring semester dining plans begin on Friday, Jan. 13 at the lunch meal. Some dining centers will be open through the weekend and holiday, and all centers will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 17. For hours and units open, visit the Dining Services hours website.

Schiffert Health Center

Schiffert Health Center maintains regular business hours over break; the center is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Schiffert will be closed on Monday, Jan. 16 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 8 a.m.

Cook Counseling Center

Cook Counseling Center will close for Martin Luther King Jr. Day but will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 8 a.m. to resume regular business hours.

Student Engagement and Campus Life

Squires Student Center will be open on Monday, Jan. 16 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Johnston Student Center will be closed on Monday, Jan. 16, and will be open regular hours starting Tuesday, Jan. 17.

The Graduate Life Center at Donaldson-Brown will open on Monday, Jan.16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Recreational Sports

McComas Hall resumes regular hours for recreation on Monday, Jan. 16, opening at 6 a.m. and closing at 11:30 p.m. The McComas pool opens at 2 p.m. and will close at 10 p.m.

War Memorial Gym also returns to regular hours on Monday, Jan. 16, opening at 5:30 a.m. and closing at 11:30 p.m. The War Memorial pool will be open from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Sign up for intramural sports, swim lessons, gymnastic lessons, dance classes, Venture Out trips, small group training, and group exercise classes now. A free week of fitness begins Tuesday, Jan. 17. Visit the Recreational Sports website for more information.

WellFest 2017, the student health and wellness fair, will take place in McComas Hall on Friday, Jan. 20 from 1:30 to 5 p.m.

University Libraries

All university libraries operate under break hours until Sunday, Jan. 15, when the library will close at 8 p.m. The libraries will be closed Jan. 16 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and will resume regular semester hours on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 7:30 a.m. For detailed times, please visit the library hours page.

University Bookstores

Looking to purchase your books? The on-campus University Bookstore and off-campus Volume Two Bookstore are open with regular and extended hours as students prepare for spring semester. Visit the Virginia Tech Services website for store hours and more information.

Blacksburg Transit

Blacksburg Transit returns to full service operation on Tuesday, Jan. 17. Refer to the Blacksburg Transit website for additional schedule information, including service changes that may impact bus routes and schedules this spring.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

University offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 16. The Virginia Tech community will have numerous opportunities to celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. the week of Jan. 16 to Jan. 20.

Classes

Spring 2017 classes begin on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
