The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors will hold its quarterly board meeting at 1:15 p.m. April 3, in the Board Room of Torgersen Hall (Room 2100) on the Blacksburg campus.

On April 2, the board will hold a working lunch in open session from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the 1872 Salon at the Inn at Virginia Tech and will have an open information session from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in 2100 Torgersen Hall. The Research Committee will then meet in open session from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., also in 2100 Torgersen Hall.

On April 3, the following committee sessions will be held at the North End Center (300 Turner St. NW, Blacksburg):

  • The Academic Affairs Committee will meet in closed session at 8:30 a.m. and in open session at 9 a.m. in the Reynolds Homestead Room (Room 2200).
  • The Buildings and Grounds Committee will meet at 8 a.m. in closed session and at 8:30 a.m. in open session in the Roanoke Room (Room 2400).
  • The Finance and Audit Committee will meet in closed session at 7:30 a.m. in the European Studies Room (Room 2470) and will meet in open session at 8:30 a.m. in the National Capital Region Room (Room 2420) before joining the Buildings and Grounds Committee at 11:30 a.m. in open session, also in the National Capital Region Room.
  • The Student Affairs and Athletics Committee will meet in open session at 8:30 a.m. in the Hampton Roads Room (Room 2410).

During the two-day meeting, the board will consider resolutions to launch the university’s intelligent infrastructure for human-centered communities initiative and will consider resolutions to create a Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical engineering, to establish a School of Plant and Environmental Science in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the appointment of two University Distinguished Professors, the 2018-24 Capital Outlay Plan, 2017-18 compensation for graduate assistants, and 2017-18 tuition and fees.

In addition, the board will also select the 2017-2018 undergraduate and graduate student representatives to the board.

On April 1, board members will participate in a retreat from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the River Room at 8400 River Course Drive in Radford, Virginia.
