The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine is preparing for its fourth year of participation in Match Day, the day medical students across the country find out what residency program they will attend. This year, Match Day falls on Friday, March 17.

So far, with three graduating classes of around 40 students each year, the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine has had a 100 percent match rate, meaning all students have been placed into a residency program upon graduation.

On Friday, March 14 at 12:30 p.m., a celebration ceremony will be held. Students from the Class of 2017 will share where they are headed for residency. The media is allowed to attend this session. It is expected to end around 2 p.m. Some students and school representatives will be available for interviews following the ceremony.

Members of the media who would like to attend should arrive at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, located at 2 Riverside Circle in Roanoke, Virginia, at 12:15 p.m. Check in at the lobby to be escorted to the event location by Alison Matthiessen, director of communications for the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.

Questions may be directed to Matthiessen via email at acordell@vt.edu or by phone at (540) 581-0228.
