In the event of inclement weather on May 12, the University Ceremony at Lane Stadium may be delayed, or in case of extreme weather, canceled.

If a decision to delay or cancel has been made, details will be posted on the Virginia Tech homepage (www.vt.edu), the Virginia Tech News homepage (www.vtnews.vt.edu), and university social media channels including the Virginia Tech page on Twitter (www.twitter.com/virginia_tech) and the Virginia Tech page on Facebook (www.facebook.com/virginiatech).

In the remote case that the ceremony is canceled on Friday morning, arrangements have been made to broadcast the keynote speeches, including Sheryl Sandberg's remarks.

For those in the procession

Lineup for the University Ceremony processional has been moved to the southeast corner of Lane Stadium.  If you plan to take part in the processional, please check in at Gate 1 by 7:45 a.m. on May 12.

You will be directed to the top of the hill (toward gate 8) to enter the ramps where you’ll be staged and sheltered from any rain until the procession onto the field begins.

Faculty and graduates in the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, College of Architecture and Urban Studies, College of Science, and Pamplin College of Business will go up the ramp to the right.

College of Engineering, College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, and College of Natural Resources and Environment graduates will go up the ramp to the left.

Gowns should be unzipped to enter the stadium and again when you enter the tunnels for the processional.

You are advised to wear rainwear to cover your cap and gown (clear ponchos are recommended).  Umbrellas will not be allowed onto the field.

For parents, families, and friends viewing the ceremony

Please sit on the west side of Lane Stadium for the University Ceremony (enter from gates along Beamer Way).

We encourage you to wear rainwear if at all possible.  Umbrellas would impede the view of other family and friends and are discouraged.

Wrapped packages are not allowed.

For people with disabilities

Wheelchair access on the west side of Lane Stadium will be utilized first.  Enter via the north or south elevator towers on Beamer Way.  These towers are located between Gates 4 and 5.

Note:  Cassell Coliseum will not be open to the public until 11 a.m. on Friday, May 12.
