The Virginia Tech Alumni Association will host its bi-annual Black Alumni Summit in Richmond, Virginia July 7-8.

The event, which will be held at the Hilton Richmond Downtown, will focus on Project 2022 and planning for Virginia Tech’s Black Alumni Reunion, which is set for April 13-15, 2018.

Project 2022 seeks to engage black alumni in the recruitment, yield, and retention of black and African-American students. The goal is to significantly and quickly increase the number of black student applications and student enrollment at Virginia Tech. During the summit, alumni will establish regional networks to support the project.

The event will also offer an update on diversity initiatives at Virginia Tech.

Special guests will include:

  • Menah Pratt-Clarke, vice president for strategic affairs and vice provost for inclusion and diversity
  • Matt Winston, senior associate vice president for alumni relations
  • Crystal Crockett, director of development for inclusion and diversity
