The Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute has postponed Brain School events scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday back one day to Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Due to weather conditions, employees should use their own discretion about coming to work this afternoon and are asked to please stay home if they feel conditions are unsafe.

War Memorial and McComas Halls are currently open. All group exercises, lessons, and intramurals have been canceled. The business office and Venture Out are both closed. Late fees for equipment returned to Venture Out will be waived.

Schiffert Health Center is open from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. today.

University Libraries will remain closed until 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Squires Student Center will close at 8 p.m. Monday. BreakZONE will open at noon.  All other services (Passport Acceptance Facility, Ticket Office, The Source, all administrative offices, etc.) are closed.  All major events in Squires have been canceled. Student organizational meetings may held today at the disrection of student leaders.

Graduate Life Center and Johnston Student Center are now closed for the day.

Due to inclement weather conditions, the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg will now be closed on Monday, March 12, 2018. University staff designated emergency personnel must report as instructed by their supervisor.

All day and evening classes have been canceled. All university events scheduled for today have been canceled.

Below are hours and operations of student facilities on the Blacksburg campus.

Squires Student Center will open at 9 a.m. Johnston Student Center and the Graduation Life Center will both at 10:30 a.m.

Both War Memorial Hall and McComas Hall are open and will remain open for normal hours unless a decision is made to close early. Group Exercise will begin after 11 a.m. Main office will open at 11 a.m. Pools are open.

Schiffert Health Center will open at 11 a.m.

University Libraries will open at 11 a.m.

Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine is closed today. All classes are canceled for M1 and M2 students. For M3 and M4 students on clinical rotations, there will be no assumed cancellation due to inclement weather. If clinical activities are cancelled, the clerkship or rotation director will be in touch with the affected students individually.

Due to inclement weather conditions, administrative offices at the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg will be closed until 11 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018. University staff designated "emergency personnel" must report as instructed by their supervisor.

Classes scheduled to start at 8 a.m. and 9:05 a.m. and 10:10 a.m. have been canceled. Classes beginning after 11 a.m. will be held as scheduled.

Due to the impending weather conditions, the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute (VTCRI) in Roanoke will be closed Monday morning.  As of Sunday night, plans are to reopen the Research Institute at 1 p.m., but officials will reassess based on weather updates as the morning progresses.  Please watch for updates.  

The opening event of Brain School scheduled for 6 p.m. (reception at 5:30 p.m.) is still expected to be held on time.  Any change or updates will be posted.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Blacksburg area to take effect at 12 a.m. on Monday, March 12.

In anticipation of wintry weather beginning at midnight, Virginia Tech has declared a snow emergency to take effect at 10 p.m. This designation goes into effect when road conditions deteriorate to the point where road travel is difficult. Generally, this occurs when the road is significantly iced or approximately 3-4 inches of snow has fallen.
