Join the Moss Arts Center as it kicks off its 2018-2019 “Broadway in Blacksburg” series with Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s groundbreaking musical “Evita.”

“Evita” comes to the center’s Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre, located within the Street and Davis Performance Hall at 190 Alumni Mall, on Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be available for the production on Tuesday, Aug. 7, at 10 a.m., the day individual tickets for all of the Moss Arts Center’s 2018-2019 regular season performances go on sale.

A classic Broadway and London hit, “Evita” captures the rise and fall of Eva Perón, one of the world’s most glamorous first ladies. Wife of Argentine dictator Juan Perón, Eva Perón enthralled a nation and enchanted a world. The production charts her story, from her humble beginnings to her rise to wealth, power, and status, in a high-flying theatrical experience.

The original Broadway production won several Tony awards, including Best Musical. “Evita” director Harold Prince received a Tony for Best Direction of a Musical, while Rice and Webber won a Tony Award for Best Original Score. “Evita” features some of the most loved songs in musical theatre, including “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” “On This Night of a Thousand Stars,” “Oh What A Circus,” “You Must Love Me,” and “Another Suitcase in Another Hall.”

Tickets

Tickets for the performance are $40-$75 for general public and $20-$55 for youth 18 and under. A limited number of Virginia Tech student tickets are available for $10. Tickets will be available on Tuesday, Aug. 7, at 10 a.m., and can be purchased online; at the Moss Arts Center's box office, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; or by calling 540-231-5300 during box office hours.
