Family-friendly fun abounds at Virginia Tech Police Community Day on Oct. 13
Compete in an obstacle course, challenge your doughnut eating skills, and try your luck at dunking a police officer at Virginia Tech Police Department’s seventh annual Community Day on Oct. 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Drillfield.
Community Day is just one of the events taking place during Virginia Tech’s Fall Family Weekend. Students, employees, the general public, and their families are invited to attend the free event to learn more about the award-winning and nationally accredited police department. About 1,000 people are expected to attend.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of interactive activities, including
- Law enforcement obstacle course
- Drunk goggle carts
- VIN etching
- Dunk-A-Cop
- K-9 demonstrations
- Donut eating contest
- Bloodmobile
The event will also include free food and prizes. Numerous community organizations will be on hand to share an inside look into their organizations:
- Virginia Tech Police Department and K-9 team
- Virginia Tech Emergency Response Team
- Virginia Tech Rescue Squad
- Blacksburg Fire Department
- Blacksburg Police
- Blacksburg Rescue Squad
- Christiansburg Police
- Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office
- Carilion Lifeguard (helicopter) crew
- Regional Dive Team
